This is a special issue of the Rondeli Russian Military Digest dedicated to the Russo-Ukrainian War, composed on the basis of numerous open sources.

Kyiv-Chernihiv Area

Ukrainians made some progress on the Kyiv-Zhytomyr highway west of Kyiv, regaining several villages from Russians.

No other major territorial changes occurred during the reported period despite Russians having begun to withdraw some of their forces from areas both west/northwest and east of Kyiv.

Donbas Area

Inconclusive street fighting continued in Rubizhne and Popasna. Battles also continued near Avdiivka, Mar’inka, in the area to the west of Horlivka, and in the direction of Novomykhailivka, without Russians being able to achieve serious advance.

Fighting continued within Izyum and in the area to the south of this town, also without new major Russian advance.

Overall, Russians kept focusing their efforts on trying to surround Ukrainian forces in Donbas, something they appeared likely to continue to do during the weeks ahead.

Siege of Mariupol

It was confirmed during the reported period that Russians had made new territorial gains within Mariupol. It appeared from the direction of their attacks that their objective was to cut the Ukrainian-held area of Mariupol into several isolated pockets. This objective was not fulfilled by Russians during the reported period.

Static shot from the Russo-Ukrainian War interactive map, besieged Mariupol by 30 March. All information on the maps is approximate.

Black Sea Area

Reports emerged of Ukrainians making territorial progress within Kherson Oblast but no details were known at the time of writing.

No major changes occurred in the Kharkiv-Sumy and Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia areas during the reported period.
