Annual Conference “Georgia-EU Association Objectives”

On November 22, 2016 the annual conference “Georgia-EU Association Objectives” was held in Tbilisi at “Baltmore Hotel.”  The conference was envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) concluded by and between the Government of Georgia and Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum Georgian National Platform about the Implementation of EU-Georgia Association Agreement.

The aim of the event is to promote the high engagement of the civil society in the implementation process of the EU-Geoegia Association Agreement.

The conference was opened by Mr. David Bakradze, Acting State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

The speakers included Janos Herman, EU Ambassador to Georgia, Niels Scott, Ambassador to the United Nations in Georgia, Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of EU Studies at Rondeli Foundation also the Chairman of the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum and Lasha Tugushi, Coordinator of the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum.

Mr. Kakha Gogolashvili in capacity of the Chairman of Georgian National Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum  moderated two panel discussions.  

Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Acting Prime Minister of Georgia addressed the participants of the conference. In his opinion, Platform as is one of the largest union of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs), plays a distinct role in the process of EU integration of Georgia. According to the Acting Prime Minister, shared efforts of the Government and NGO sectors is most important within the context of EU integration, thus leading to the public consolidation in the country and further boosting the EU integration process.

On working sessions 12 public policy documents, dedicated to the implementation of concrete AA provisions were presented by CSOs.

The closing remarks were made by Mr. Gogolashvili together with the other stakeholders of the conference.

The representatives of high-ranking officials from government, local non-governmental organizations, embassies and international organization in Georgia participated in the working process of the conference.

The conference was co-organized by the Office of the State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and the Georgian National Platform of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum with the financial support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia, the European Union and the Swedish government.
