Public Policy Knowledge Network (PPKN)

The Public Policy Knowledge Network (PPKN) project implemented by GFSIS in partnership with the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and financed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) was designed to assist Georgian government to respond to the governance challenges. Project goal was to build capacity within the government of Georgia and at schools of public administration in the South Caucasus to meet global standards and best practices in public administration.

The project engaged directly with middle to upper level public servants in practical exercises in policy development. As such, these exercises not only aimed to modernize Georgian public administration and public policy, they seek to deliver actionable policy documents related to issues of national importance. Key to this project was the introduction and reinforcement of modern management knowledge, practice and skills among state officials.  Their efforts were consistent with and supportive of principles of gender equality.

Under the framework of the project the policy working group program, a comprehensive, gender-sensitive training activity designed to build policy analysis and development skills within the Government of Georgia was offered to over 125 public servants. During the year-long training, policy analysts worked on a major policy topic in consultation with their respective ministerial authorities producing over 100 policy papers.  Three Study Tours to Canada organized during the lifespan of the project introduced to Georgian government officials Canadian approach to public policy and administration.
