EU-Georgia Civil Society Platform Meeting in Brussels

On February 26 the sixth meeting of the EU-Georgia Civil Society Platform (CSP) was held in Brussels, on the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Members of the CSP discussed the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement.   

Co-Chairs of CSP István Komoróczki, Advisor to the President of the Hungarian National Federation of Consumer Co-operative Societies and Trade Associations (ÁFEOSZ-COOP) and Kakha Gogolashvili, Director of the EU Studies at Rondeli Foundation opened the meeting.   

Representatives of the Georgian Government and the European Commission, Davit Bujiashvili, Head of the Department of the EU Assistance Coordination and Sectorial Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Michaela Hauf, DG NEAR, European Commission, Ciara O'Brien, European External Action Service addressed the issues of EU-Georgia AA implementation followed by Q/A session engaging members of CSP.  

The next two sessions were dedicated to the presentation of the reports. Andrzej Adamczyk, EESC and Lasha Tugushi, European Initiative – Liberal Academy Tbilisi, presented reports and critical evaluation of the recent changes in the Constitutional law of Georgia. The next two sessions were devoted to the presentation of reports. Andrzej Adamchik, from the EESC and Lasha Tugushi, from the European Initiative of the Liberal Academy of Tbilisi, presented an assessment of recent changes in the Georgian Constitutional Law.   Lawyer Ekaterine Kardava and Tamar Gabisonia from the Confederation of Trade Unions of Georgia presented opened the discussion on occupational safety and health (OSH) at the workplace. 

The Platform members adopted the Joint Declaration reflecting the issues of AA Implementation. Full text of reports and the Declaration will be soon available at the EESC website.
