Evening Discussion on Georgian Gas Market

On November 27, 2016 Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) hosted an evening discussion on the topic Georgian Gas Market led by an Energy Analyst Ms Liana Jervalidze. The event was moderated by Ambassador Irakli Menagarishvili, Senior Fellow, GFSIS. The Georgian gas market, supply and diversification challenges, negotiations with Gasprom and its implications were discussed at the event attended by the representatives of diplomatic corps, media and expert community. 

Ms Jervalidze presented an independent expert opinion on the ongoing key issues of Georgian gas market, such as need for diversification of gas supply routes and pipelines, development of partnerships in the field of energy and significance of the potential partnership with Iran as a considerable alternative of gas supply to Georgia. The discussion also covered the North-South energy transit through Georgia and its stimulation impacts on Trans-Caspian pipeline. Ms Jervalidze discussed the opportunity for the South Caucasus and Georgia as one of the key players of the Region to become a gas supplier to the European states. 

The Event was marked by the active participation of the engaged audience.
